Agent Orchestration

Coordinating multiple AI agents — each with its own role — so their work combines into a larger workflow, with defined handoffs and oversight.

Agent orchestration is the coordination layer for multi-agent work: which agent does what, in which order, how outputs pass between them, and where human checkpoints sit. Think of it as the difference between hiring individuals and running a team — the org chart, handoffs and management rituals applied to agents.

Executives should care because orchestration is where compounding value lives. One agent saves hours; an orchestrated crew — researcher, drafter, reviewer, publisher — can run an entire business process end to end. But orchestration also multiplies the failure modes: a bad handoff between agents propagates errors downstream at machine speed, which is why defined handoffs and approval gates matter more, not less, as crews grow.

Concrete example: a content pipeline where one agent researches a topic, a second drafts the article, a third checks claims against sources, and a human editor approves before publication — each step logged, each handoff explicit.

The design principle is boring on purpose: small, well-defined agent roles with explicit handoffs beat one 'super agent' asked to do everything.
